Rotary 1 & 2 Upgrade

The project was the replacement of an obsolete control system that had been in place for 25 years; and was seen as a risk to business in a critical part of the plant.

The challenge was that we needed to upgrade the working furnaces used in the process and replace the obsolete PLC5 equipment with a modern Guardlogix solution. This needed to be changed over quickly, safely, and perfectly as it was a working site.

Areas of the Plant Booker Hill installed the controls for are:

·        Charging

·        Hopper and Fume Hopper Feeds

·        Silos

·        Furnace 1 & 2 Controls

·        Fume recovery

·        Fume extraction

Using

We achieved this by collaborating with the customer and undertaking extensive testing of the control system and interface prior to the installation to ensure that everything ran as it should.

The project was a success and Booker Hill Projects still maintain a working relationship with the site, sustaining safety standards and helping them lead the way in recycling management services.
