Case Study -

CSG

Booker Hill Projects work with CSG, a company that was founded in 1934, and are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of specialist waste management solutions. They provide bespoke technology to treat, recover and recycle waste across 20 Waste Centrifuge Treatment facilities nationwide.

The challenge for this customer is to design and implement the relevant controls and processes on a bespoke basis for each site; catering to their requirements, maintaining quality and meeting regulation requirements whilst also standardising them to be a uniform interface across all operational sites.

Control Processes that we have used:

·        Feed Preparation:

·        Centrifuge Operation:

·        Separation:

The waste is divided into two main phases:

  1. Sludge (Solid phase): The separated solids, which accumulate at the outer edge of the centrifuge.

  2. Supernatant (Liquid phase): The clarified liquid that remains in the centre.

·        Discharge of Separated Phases:

·        Chemical Dosing

The implementation of Centrifuge Treatment allows the wastewater treatment facility to significantly reduce its sludge volume, cut disposal costs, and meet environmental regulations more effectively.

It also contributes to the facility’s sustainability efforts by recovering energy and converting waste into useful by-products like biosolids. Despite some initial investment and ongoing maintenance costs, the long-term benefits, both financially and environmentally are proven to be substantial.
